The food court at the Empire State Plaza concourse is a popular lunch spot for thousands of state workers every day. As of the end of October, however, the Big Mac, Chicken McNuggets, and McCafe coffees will no longer be served.
The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) tells News 10 McDonald's chose not to renew their lease, which expires in November. McDonald's says they'll shut down operations at the plaza concourse on October 27th.
A spokesperson for OGS says they're confident a new restaurant option will move into the McDonald's space:
We have a new food vendor lined up for that space that will meet the needs of the state workforce and visitors to the Plaza. We expect to make an announcement once a lease has been finalized.
There are still a number of restaurants on the concourse. OGS says they are also looking to fill the spaces left vacant by Bombers Burrito Bar and Auntie Anne's.
