If you travel the New York State Thruway on a regular basis, you'll see a spike in your E-Z Pass bill. The State Thruway Authority has raised tolls by 5% effective January 1, 2024. The increase averages out to 4.9 cents per mile.
If you don't have E-Z Pass, the toll charge will be even higher, by as much as 75%. Those without E-Z Pass will be billed via the mail.
The Thruway Authority says the increase was necessary for infrastructure repair and upkeep, as well as to make up for the loss of revenue during Covid in 2020.
