Threats Made, Capital Region Schools on Heightened Alert

Several schools in the Capital Region have increased security on Wednesday after a threat was received at schools across New York State. 

CBS 6 reports there was a threat received Wednesday morning that bombs had been placed at schools across the state. Bethlehem School District went into lockout while police investigated. The Bethlehem Police Department said no threat was found and the lockout was lifted at 11:25. 

In Saratoga County, the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School District said they received a threat around 9:30 Wednesday morning. Saratoga County Sheriffs were on scene with bomb sniffing dogs and determined there was no threat.

Meanwhile, several other school districts in the Capital Region acknowledged they received threats and quickly reported to them to police. Albany City Schools released a statement saying there was no credibility to the threats and is likely another act of swatting across the state. 

New York State Police also issued a statement, claiming the threats were not credible: 

There is no information to indicate a specific and credible threat at this time. We are working with our local and federal law enforcement partners to respond to these threats as necessary with a shared goal of keeping the public safe.
