Shawn Mendes Says He 100 Percent ‘Found’ Himself on New Album

Shawn Mendes is set to release his self-titled album "Shawn" on November 15, sharing insights into his journey towards self-discovery and the creative process with John Mayer in Interview Magazine.  The 25-year-old artist revealed that working on this album allowed him to connect more deeply with himself, marking a significant step in his personal growth.  Mayer imagined Mendes listening to the album opening, which he initially thought was “boring,” and adding a few instruments and top harmonies, as Mendes stated, “‘This is exactly what I wanted.'” In fact, Mendes said after a few weeks of “pushing through this gunk” in the studio, he got to a place where things were “so beautiful and deep. I was like, ‘Wait, this is medicine.'” Mendes credited therapy for helping him become less extreme and more balanced, leading to a more authentic and comfortable self.  Reflecting on past relationships, including his breakup with Camila Cabello, Mendes discussed how these experiences have contributed to his growth and maturation.  Source: Billboard
