The stage was destroyed by an early morning fire on Sunday
A popular destination in Lake George went up in flames Sunday morning. The amphitheater at Shepherd Park was completely destroyed in a blaze that was likely caused by an electrical issue.
Regardless, in talking to CBS 6, Lake George Mayor Raymond Perry says the shows will go on as planned.
We’re going to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps and set up a tent temporarily for our first concert which could be as early as tomorrow but definitely Wednesday. We met with electricians, we are going to use a generator at the first event and then we’re going to try and get power restored to here as well as a portable stage that we either own or rent.
As luck would have it, they're ready to go Tuesday night with the Tom Petty tribute band 'The Brokenhearted'. All other shows will also go on as scheduled.
According to Perry, the plan is to rebuild at the same site for 2025.
We’re going to build back better. It’s going to be wonderful. It's going to be the greatest amphitheater in the northeast.
The silver lining, he says, is a better view of the lake from the park. Something they are taking into account in designing the new stage.
Tonight is the first night of Tuesday Tributes at our Shepard Park amphitheater!! All performances start at 7 PM sharp,...
