Forecasters aren't ruling out the possibility of a tornado.

At the very least, we can expect very heavy rain and thunderstorms. At the most, the possibility of a tornado. The storm, which battered parts of Florida and the Carolinas will make its way up the east coast and into the Capital Region Thursday night and throughout the day Friday.

According to the National Weather Service:

In addition to the heavy rain and flooding threat from the remnants of Debby, there is Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) of severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon into Friday evening. A few storms may produce isolated damaging winds gusts or even a brief tornado.

Rain, flooding and strong winds remain the most likely threat. About 1-3" of rain is expected in the immediate Capital Region, with totals between 3-4 inches to the north and west.
