Shaker also advances as the Boys Basketball Sectional Championship field is set

GLENS FALLS - Going against LL Cool J's wishes, you can call this a comeback.

Troy, down 48-29 in the third quarter, comes back as they stun Lasalle Institute in the Class AA Sectional Semifinals, 62-60, at the Cool Insuring Arena.

The Flying Horses outscored Lasalle 26-6 in the final quarter, gaining their first lead in the game on Stetson Merritt's bucket with three seconds left in regulation with the game tied 60-60.

Merritt would finish with 19 points. Jose Acevedo added 19 points for the Flying Horses, and Jordan Hood launched three from behind the arch as he finished with 9.

The comeback flips the script from the first meeting between the two teams January 6th at Troy High School, where the Flying Horses had a 5 point lead at the half, before Lasalle came back to win by 5.

Both teams were undefeated in Colonial Conference play entering that, and Lasalle remained undefeated in conference play until the Sectional Semifinals.

And for 31 minutes and 57 seconds, they were mostly in the lead against Troy, with only the times the two teams were tied at the beginning before Lasalle opened scoring with a 3, and when Troy tied the game at 60-60.

Davon Maloney finishes with 17 points and Stephen Mulinio with 17 as well.  Tre'Dell Faison led the Cadets with 20 points.

The win punches Troy's ticket to Sunday's Championship, where they'll face top seeded and reigning Sectional Champion Niskayuna.  Tip is 2:30PM at the Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.

SHAKER WINS COAST TO COAST AGAINST RIVALS COLONIE

Tye Mariano scores 15 points and Marcelin Mukendi adds 10 as Shaker rolls easily, beating the Colonie Wolfpack 55-36.

Shaker led from start to finish, leading 21-3 at one point in the second quarter, as Colonie went cold from the field.

The Wolfpack went 6 for 21 from the field in the first half, and only a slightly better 8 for 22 in the second half.   While Shaker's 17 for 42 game average wasn't much better, the Blue Bison made up for it with their 17 for 25 at the free throw line.

Shaker plays for their first Sectional Championship since 1992 on Sunday.

GREEN TECH DRUMS UP EXCITING WIN AS CBA COMES UP SHORT AT FINISH

The game saw nine lead changes, with neither team able to lead by more than 5 points at any given time.

U'Mier Graham led the Green Tech Soaring Eagles with 16 points.  He also grabbed 12 rebounds for the double double. Indavier Barnes added 11 points and Olivan Owens rejected 3 shots in the win for Green Tech.

Jayden Osinksi scored 17 for the Brothers.

Green Tech advances to face Shaker in the Class AAA Championship, to be held Sunday at the Hudson Valley Community College at 4:15pm.

The Soaring Eagles brought excitement not only in their play on the court, but through their Drum Corps, who entertained fans during the 1st and 3rd Quarter breaks, as well as a 5 minute session during the half.
