[WATCH] Strong Storm Tears Through Albany

Video catches strong winds with tree limbs and debris flying through the air

Update 7:27pm: Unconfirmed reports that one of the towers atop the abandoned St. Joseph's Church on Ten Broeck Street has collapsed through the roof of the church.

Update 7:17pm: The Times Union reports an apartment building at 930 Broadway was damaged during the storm and evacuated. The building at 13 Thatcher Street will likely have to be demolished.

Update: 7:08pm: Trees were toppled into roadways, as seen below on Partridge Street.

Update: 7:01pm: Sidewinder Photography is on the scene where the storm reportedly tore the roof off a building on Thatcher Street and another on Broadway. The buildings are both said to have collapsed inside.

Update 6:47pm: Albany's Thursday night Alive at 5 concert has been canceled due to the storm. 

Update 6:44pm: There are reports that a 4 story building has collapsed on the 900 block of Broadway in Albany. No injuries have been reported. It's not yet known if the collapse was caused by the storm. 

Update 6:41pm: Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan tweeted there is widespread damage throughout the city with a preliminary estimate of ten thousand people without power. 

The News 10 cameras were rolling as a powerful thunderstorm ripped through Downtown Albany on Thursday. The video below shows power lines shaking with debris flying through the air. 

Another post on X shows photos from a baseball field in the Pine Hills neighborhood. The damage may cancel this weekend's little league games. 

There are also reports of trees toppled on houses and wires down in parts of the city. National Grid says they are dealing with a number of power outages.
